Install laminate wooden stair guards for stairs
Follow these steps to install a stair cover to give your staircase the elegance of a beautiful Eligna or Classic floor.
- Start by repairing damage and making sure the stair surface is clean and level.
- Measure the distance from the front edge of the step panel to the vertical face of the step below. If less than 46 mm, the vertical panel will not fit behind the panel. Loosen the step or adjust the panel to fit the vertical panel and firmly support the entire panel. From 46 mm or more, check to see if an additional board needs to be added to the bottom edge of the panel to complete. Tape the back, use wood glue at the seam, or a combination of both.
- Pedometer. Click on the stair support and fold them together then cut to size.
- Lift measurement. You can leave the groove as is and saw at the height of the lift minus a minimum of 2mm. The lower step can be pushed below the lift by sliding it slightly upward.
- Paste: always dry before pasting the stairs. Starting at the top of the stairs, apply glue in a wavy motion and make sure to apply enough glue. Attach each floor board to the corresponding vertical side of each step, with the groove facing down.
- Glue down the stair riser, then glue down the stair cover and repeat. Adjust the position of the lifting board. If the upstairs floor is surface mounted, make sure you use an Incizo bar between the glued down upper ladder cover and the floating floor.
