What is laminate flooring and what layers does it include?

A laminate flooring consists of many layers, with a core made of glued high-density fiberboard (HDF), which is water resistant. Quick-Step models belong to the group laminate flooring all have four layers.

Laminate?

1. Wear-resistant transparent coating

This top layer makes your Quick-Step floor resistant to stains, wear, impact, scratches, burns and household chemicals. It consists of several layers of melamine pressed onto an HDF core sheet in one press, under high pressure and temperature. The surface layer is finished with wood or brick texture/texture called 'registration highlights'. This means that this surface structure is in complete harmony with the design.

2. Decorative layer

This is the layer that helps shape the actual surface of the floor. The design layer is a very high resolution photograph of real wood or brick reproduced using sophisticated printing techniques and a melamine finish. The combination of perfect design and surface structure makes imitation woodwork or tiles look extremely realistic and natural.

3. HDF core pressed with moisture-proof glue

This is an HDF core board is the heart of a fast-paced laminate floor. HDF is "High Density Fiber Board", composed of refined wood fibers and high quality melamine resin. This is a composite wood fiber panel that allows all parts of the tree to be used. Wood fiber panels are very uniform in composition and technical characteristics, extremely durable, stable and highly moisture resistant.

4. Balance layer

This moisture-resistant underlayment ensures a perfectly balanced board that will not warp or buckle when properly installed and maintained.
